Residency Application
The Monterroso Gallery Cultural Residency Program operates on a rolling admissions model with quarterly intake cycles. To ensure a productive learning environment and provide individualized mentorship, the program supports 8–10 active residents at any given time. Artists are admitted each quarter as space becomes available.
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Program Features
Participating residents engage in a structured curriculum designed to support professional development, community engagement, and sustained artistic growth:
Professional Development Workshops
Portfolio strategy, documentation, pricing, contracts, and exhibition planning.Curatorial Conversations & Mentorship
Regular dialogue and guidance with external advisors.Community Engagement & Public Programs
Artist talks, open studios, and field visits.Exhibition Curriculum
A mid-residency collective exhibition followed by curated duo and small-group exhibitions developed into the next year.Dedicated Artist Profile
Each resident receives a dedicated artist page on the gallery website.Optional International Extension
Opportunity to participate in a Guatemala residency extension (additional cost), including studio time, cultural visits, and exhibition opportunities.
Residency Expectations
Program Duration: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2027
Participation Fee: $300/month (with scholarship opportunities in development)
Time Commitment: Weekly participation encouraged, with calendar shared before the cycle begins.
Public Participation: Engagement in open studios, talks, and exhibition programs is encouraged.
