Full Circle is inspired by Erik Ordaz Lozano’s solo exhibition Loco Planetarium: Coincidencia(s) in the Front Gallery, where ceramic spheres become spaces for movement, shifting perspectives, and multiple ways of seeing.
Inspired by that idea, Monterroso Gallery invited a group of Houston artists, including artists from the residency program, to create works based on the sphere. The invitation was simple: allow the form to enter your practice, or bring your practice into the form.
Working across different mediums, materials, and ideas, each artist approached the sphere through their own visual language and experience. Some works stay close to the form itself, while others move further into abstraction, surface, structure, rhythm, or repetition. Together, the exhibition becomes a meeting point between different perspectives, processes, and ways of thinking.
Planned at the same time Houston prepares to host the World Cup, Full Circle also reflects on moments where people from different places and experiences gather around a shared form, a shared energy, or a shared experience, even if only briefly.
Across both exhibitions, the sphere becomes more than an object. It becomes a point of connection.
Full Circle.
