Wisdom in the Bleachers (Robin Baker and Wood Fancher Anthony, RobinWood Art Studio)
2023, 24 x 30 in (61 x 77 cm), acrylic and oil on canvas
A cougar, one of the fastest and most athletic animals native to Texas, is haloed by the ceiling of the Astrodome, once called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Owls, bluebonnets, and desert marigolds, symbols of wisdom and creativity, surround it. It's a reminder that Texas schools consistently choose stadiums over classrooms and the arts.
